Elevate is an online academy that educates international health professionals, elevating professional knowledge and improving health worldwide.
After we challenged the working title ‘Utrecht Academic Health Portal’ (UAHP), and agreed on the name ‘Elevate’ together with the client, we defined the communication- and brand strategy.
The name had to be unambiguous, no need for descriptors or sublabeling: a brand that indicates exactly what it does, surely because it’s mostly used for online design.
The visual design has to embrace academic quality, but at the same time be human and understandable for an international audience.
The communication part was driven by questions like how do you attract and engage people? How can you make people identify with the brand, and make them sign up for a course? And how do you keep them involved?
By making these thinking steps together with the Elevate team, and mapping the future participants and their user experiences, we created the basis for developing the public website and the e-learning environment.
An example of a possible participant is Justinous Legote, a nurse from Johannesburg, South Africa.
His media use lead inter alia to the insight that the design should be optimized for different bandwidths.
All requirements, questions and strategic decisions have lead to a design that is focused on someone’s personal and professional growth, and this way contributes to ‘elevation’ of global health.
