Toonzetters
Toonzetters (‘setting the tone’) is a new event presenting the best new Dutch composers. Lava created the concept for this visual identity by creating a graphical translation of musical notation.
We were inspired by a mid 19th century instrument called a ‘harmonograph’, which creates a graphical image of a musical vibration into a x and y-axis. By experimenting with a number of these figures we were able to create unique typography for each letter in the word ‘Toonzetters’. This resulted in a living typography that allows for an infinite number of possibilities.
