Educational books EPN
EPN is is a well known publisher of educational books for high school students in the Netherlands. Lava developed the identity and the complete range of covers for all their methods (math, chemistry, languages, music, etc). The math -method, called ‘Getal en Ruimte’ (Number and space) has been a bestseller for over 30 years.
Lava gave the different methods a -complete new look. The result is a series of covers that feel like a unity, but are unique in every case. The spine of the book, with its dots, varies in density of pattern throughout your progress in highschool.
The dutch educational system with different levels in high school, combined with the different years for which the method is developed, created the need to design 23 covers with the same concept but a slightly different look. Lava looked to processing to develop the cover images. Based on mathematical formulas (seen at the bottom of each cover), the shapes vary in color and dimension depending on the variables that are entered through programming.
